Grants

Types of Federal Aid

Federal Pell Grant

Federal Pell Grants are awarded to students on the basis of financial need and do not have to be repaid. These grants are considered the foundation of Federal Financial Aid, to which aid from other federal and non-federal sources might be added. Pell Grants are only awarded to undergraduate students who have not yet earned a bachelor's degree. The Pell award is based on enrollment status and Pell eligibility as determined by the U.S. Department of Education.

See note about听.

Federal SEOG

The Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) is given to undergraduate students who demonstrate extreme financial need as determined by the U.S. Department of Education.

SEOG Grants are awarded to students with a $0 EFC first until the limited funds are exhausted. Some additional SEOG is held back for awarding students who are part-time, independent or who file the FAFSA later in the award year. The SEOG award is typically $400 annually although it can be increased on a case by case basis. The SEOG award is legislated as $100 minimum annually. The institutional maximum FWS is $6000 annually.

America's Promise Grant

America's College Promise grants support tuition-free education that prepares participants for jobs to meet industry workforce needs. The grants are for four years and are designed to create or expand regional partnerships between employers, economic development, workforce development, community colleges, training programs, K-12 education systems, and community-based organizations that make a commitment - or a "promise" - to provide a pipeline of workers to fill existing job openings, meet existing employer needs for expansion, fuel the talent needs of entrepreneurs, and attract more jobs from overseas.
